In one of their lowest scoring games of the season, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks defeated the Shorewood Thunderbirds 40-33 at the Terraceum Thursday night.
The Tererace fans were out in full force in red, white and black at this first round playoff game.
The game stated off slow and at the half it was Terrace 17, Shorewood 13. The Hawks held the T-birds to only 4 points in the 3rd quarter as the Hawks’ lead increased to 10. Both teams picked up the pace in the 4th quarter as the T-birds outscored the Hawks 16-13. It wasn’t enough as the Hawks hit several key freethrows late in the 4th to move on to the next round of the playoffs.
Zack Karels led the Hawks with 11 points.
The Hawks play Mount Vernon this Saturday, February 12 at 7:30pm at Mount Vernon in a winner-to-state challenge.
