The Mountlake Terrace Library will host “MLT Before It Was MLT,” a local history presentation by author and retired history teacher Randal Gravelle, from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, May 9.
The presentation will explore the history of the Mountlake Terrace area from prehistory through 1945, including the region’s geologic development, Indigenous trails, early settlers, the influence of the Interurban railway and the role of land developers in shaping the community.
Drawing from his book, Mountlake Terrace: A History Of Four Square Miles, Gravelle will share stories and historical details about the area surrounding present-day Mountlake Terrace, including Lake Ballinger and the city’s northeast section.
Organizers said the event will offer residents an opportunity to learn about the community’s early development and the people who lived in the area before Mountlake Terrace was incorporated.
