Economic Alliance Snohomish County will host a Coffee Chats session April 7 focused on Snohomish County’s draft Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan.

Titled “Preparing for What’s Next — Snohomish County’s Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan,” the event will offer regional leaders, employers and community partners an opportunity to learn about the county’s strategy to address climate-related impacts such as flooding, extreme heat and infrastructure strain.

Snohomish County developed the draft plan to outline strategies that strengthen community preparedness and long-term resilience. The Coffee Chats discussion will provide an overview of the plan’s structure, priorities and the importance of regional collaboration.

“As our region continues to grow, it’s important that we create opportunities for employers, community partners and local leaders to understand the planning efforts that shape our long-term economic resilience,” said Ray Stephanson, president and CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County. “Coffee Chats provides a forum for thoughtful conversation and shared understanding around issues that affect infrastructure, workforce and the overall stability of our communities.”

The session will feature presentations from Molly Beeman, energy and sustainability manager for Snohomish County, and Eileen Canola, senior planner with Snohomish County Planning and Development Services. The discussion will begin with an overview of the draft plan, followed by a moderated conversation exploring its implications for regional partners and stakeholders.

“The Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan advances Snohomish County’s collaborative, science-based strategy that strengthens our communities against climate risks while supporting long-term economic and environmental sustainability,” Beeman said. “The plan reflects the shared commitment of county residents, as well as local and regional partners to build a more resilient, prepared and equitable future.”

The session is designed for employers, planners, local leaders and community partners seeking a practical understanding of the county’s resiliency framework and its connection to economic stability, infrastructure systems and long-term regional planning.

The Coffee Chats series convenes business, government and community leaders for discussions on issues shaping Snohomish County’s economy and quality of life.
