The board of directors oversees policy-making and governance for My Neighborhood News Network. Together, they bring a range of experiences to the board — including banking, health care, human resources, immigration, nonprofit management, real estate, technology and journalism.
Carl Zapora, Chair, Edmonds
Carl Zapora is CEO of Zapora Consulting, LLC, a trustee at Edmonds College and a board member for Molina Healthcare of Washington. He is the former CEO of Public Hospital District No. 2 Snohomish County/Verdant Health Commission and before that served as CEO of United Way of Snohomish County.
Linda Shaw, Vice Chair, Seattle
Linda Shaw is the director of advanced practice & beacons, Solutions Journalism Network, which fosters in-depth reporting on responses to social problems. She formerly was employed at The Seattle Times, where she worked as a reporter and editor, including several years covering South Snohomish County. Most recently, she led the Times’ Education Lab, an award-winning, solutions-focused effort that since has been replicated by four other news organizations.
Forrest Reda, Secretary, Mountlake Terrace
Forrest Reda is a real estate professional and community advocate based in Mountlake Terrace. He holds a communications degree from Washington State University and brings a thoughtful, people-first approach to both his professional work and civic engagement. He is the chair of the City of Mountlake Terrace Recreation and Parks Committee and a member of the steering committee for the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center.
Karen Barnes, Treasurer, Edmonds
Prior to retirement, Karen Barnes worked as a CPA at Touche Ross/Deloitte Touche, in a variety of management roles at Microsoft and as a Senior Associate at Point B Consulting where clients included Amazon, Nike, Evergreen Health and Starbucks, among others. She has served as board treasurer for both the Edmonds Food Bank and the Edmonds Waterfront Center, and volunteers with the Rotary Club of Edmonds and Friends of Edmonds Trees.
Diana Oliveros, Director, Lynnwood Diana Oliveros is a Mexican immigrant, entrepreneur, and co-founder and COO of Se Habla Media, a local independent news outlet serving the Hispanic immigrant community in Washington. She has a background in diplomacy and local economic development and served six years as Consul of Community Outreach at the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle. She is also the coordinator of the Immigrant Support Preparedness Group. 
Nina Odell, Director, Edmonds
Nina Odell is the former director of government affairs and pubilc policy for Puget Sound Energy. During her career, she managed PSE’s federal, state and local government relations, community engagement and served as executive director of the Puget Sound Energy Foundation prior to her retirement. She currently serves as a board member and chair of board development at the Edmonds Waterfront Center and on the Treehouse Policy & Advocacy committee. 
Lonna Milburn, Director, Lynnwood
Lonna Milburn is a global health and nonprofit executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience across foundations, international nonprofits, academia and public-private partnerships. A former Senior Portfolio Officer at the Gates Foundation, she is a registered nurse, educator and the Director of the Lynnwood Rotary Club’s International Service Committee. 
Teresa Wippel, President and CEO, Edmonds
The founder of the My Neighborhood News Group, Teresa Wippel has served as a reporter and editor for several Puget Sound-area publications including the Mercer Island Reporter, the Port Angeles Daily News and ParentMap Magazine. She has also worked in communications roles for Seattle Public Schools and the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle, is a former Edmonds Economic Development Commissioner and a former national board member, Local Independent Online News Association.
