Edmonds Driftwood Players announces 2026 theater scholarships

Edmonds Driftwood Players is accepting applications for its 2026 theatre scholarship program, offering financial support to students pursuing education in the performing and technical arts.

Founded in 1958, Edmonds Driftwood Players is a volunteer-based nonprofit community theater and one of the longest continuously operating community theaters in Washington state. Each spring, the organization awards scholarships to students committed to furthering their education in theatre arts.

Students may submit a single application to be considered for three $1,000 awards: the Ralph Eaton Technical Theatre Scholarship, the Theatre Arts Scholarship and the AC & Norma Gehrig Scholarship. Funds may be used toward tuition at any college, university or technical school in the United States.

Eligibility requirements

  • Graduating high school seniors or current college students
  • Permanent residence in Snohomish County, King County or surrounding areas
  • Demonstrated participation in theatrical or technical arts
  • Intention to pursue further education in theatre arts
  • Willingness to allow use of name and likeness in promotional materials
  • No limit on number of years applying during college, but materials must be original and not reused

Application requirements

  • Applicant name, address, phone number and email (parent/guardian information required if under 18)
  • Current school and intended college, university or technical program for fall 2026
  • Résumé or list of theatrical productions and roles
  • List of extracurricular activities, awards or honors
  • Letter of recommendation from a drama teacher or theatre mentor
  • 300- to 500-word original essay on interest in theatre arts and future goals (no AI tools permitted)
  • Transcripts (unofficial transcripts accepted)

The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. June 7. Materials should be submitted via email to [email protected].

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the completeness, quality and presentation of submitted materials. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
