Yes, I want to support My MLTnews!
In partnership with Bloodworks Northwest, the City of Mountlake Terrace will host a community blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Mountlake Terrace City Hall, 23204 58th Ave. W., to help prevent seasonal blood shortages ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
Warmer weather, increased travel and outdoor activities often lead to a decline in donations while increasing the need for blood due to accidents and medical emergencies. Maintaining a stable blood supply is critical to ensuring hospitals across the Pacific Northwest can provide lifesaving care.
Residents are encouraged to schedule an appointment and consider donating with friends or family members. Appointments are required for the best donation experience, though same-day appointments may be available at most locations.
Donors should bring a photo ID, eat a hearty meal and stay hydrated prior to donating. For eligibility questions, donors can review Bloodworks Northwest’s online 60-second eligibility checklist and complete a QuickPass on the day of donation to streamline their visit.
Donors who give blood in April or May can enter a Bloodworks Northwest promotion for a chance to win a trip for two to Oahu, Hawaii, including roundtrip airfare and a three-night stay at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort. The winner will be notified by June 15.
