South County Fire will host a special open house in recognition of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) week.
Community members of all ages are welcome to attend 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Edmonds Downtown Station 17, 275 6th Ave. N.
The free event will highlight the vital role of EMS, which accounts for more than 80% of 911 calls handled by South County Fire. Visitors can meet local firefighters, learn lifesaving skills and gain a better understanding of the services provided by their fire department. A live high-performance CPR demonstration will start at noon.
Thanks to grant funding, free bike helmets will be available while supplies last. Free window locks, File of Life and nightlights will also be available while supplies last. Other activities include:
- Teddy Bear Clinic: Children can practice basic first aid on a stuffed animal and take it home
- Learn how to prevent window falls
- Learn hands-only CPR
The Edmonds Downtown Fire Station is part of South County Fire’s network of 15 neighborhood fire stations working together and backed by regional resources to serve nearly 300,000 residents across southwest Snohomish County.
