Chicko Chicken just opened its fifth location in Washington State in Mountlake Terrace.  It is a Korean-style fried chicken franchise that has crossed borders from Canada to bring its crispy, flavorful food to Washington.  The other locations are in Kirkland, Burien, Federal Way and Renton.

The local franchise owner,  Unki Kim, and Store Manager Ron Jones take pride in serving crispy, fresh Korean-Style fried chicken. Chicko Chicken prepares each order only after the customer has placed an order (“fried to order”). What sets Chicko Chicken apart is their dedication to authenticity as well as freshness. They import the batter mix, marinades and sauces directly from South Korea, ensuring an unparalleled taste experience that resonates with Korean culinary tradition, all while using locally sourced, fresh chicken. There are many options to choose from on the menu.  While most of the business seems to be takeout, the Mountlake Terrace location offers an option to sit down inside.

My family enjoyed a ”Half and Half” meal of their Original and Yangyeom Style fried chicken with “Shake Shake” fries and Sweet Potato fries.  We also had a side order of their pickled radish. There are eight styles of chicken to choose from, and you can order boneless, bone-in or wings. You can also order these sauces as sides: Yangyeom, Buldak, Haek Buldak, Soy Gangjung, Cheese Snow, Herb & Cheese, Galbi and Honey Butter. The food was fresh and hot and even with three of us there was plenty of food. Portions are generous.

Elsom Cellars Social Club is located in the Perrinville neighborhood, on the Edmonds/Lynnwood border.

Elsom Cellars Social Club is now open in Perrinville, featuring award-winning, amazing wine paired with carefully curated food. Jody Elsom, owner and founder, says: “I’ve always believed a great bottle of wine should do two things — stand on its own and bring people together. That’s what we’re here to create.”

The Elsom Social Club is a gathering place in Perrinville — a warm, welcoming space created for wine to be enjoyed as it is intended: unhurried, shared and grounded in connection. This is not a traditional tasting room. It’s a social house for conversation, stories and moments that unfold naturally over a glass of wine.
