The City of Mountlake Terrace will close its permit service counter on Fridays beginning June 5 to give staff additional time to review permit applications and planning projects.

City Communications Manager Sienna Spencer-Markles said the change is intended to improve efficiency and help streamline the permitting process for residents and developers.

“Fridays are the slowest day so the permitting staff can now focus on other work,” she said, adding this is a permanent change.

Under the new schedule, permit staff will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The permit counter will be closed Fridays.

Building officials, inspectors, planners and reviewers will be available at the counter from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday or by appointment.

Additional information, resources and frequently asked questions are available on the City’s permits webpage. Residents may also schedule appointments with a planner online.
