The Edmonds Civic Roundtable has rescheduled its upcoming forum on the South County Fire Regional Fire Authority’s November ballot measure to accommodate community interest in the USA World Cup match taking place in Seattle. The forum, originally scheduled for Monday, July 6, will now run from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Edmonds Waterfront Center, 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds.

The meeting program will include basic information about the measure, plus a moderated discussion with Regional Fire Authority Chief Shaughn Maxwell. RFA staff will be on hand to provide an overview of the ballot initiative but are not allowed to advocate for the measure. The presentation will be followed by small-group discussions and the opportunity to ask questions.

The measure, known as Prop 1, will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. If passed, it would add four new fire stations, replace six fire stations and complete renovations and seismic upgrades at four additional stations, along with other upgrades and repairs.

The Regional Fire Authority includes the cities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and unincorporated areas. Edmonds voters last year approved a measure to join the RFA.

There is no charge to attend the July 8 Roundtable meeting, but registration in advance is requested at www.edmondscivicroundtable.org.
