Mountlake Terrace’s Concern for Neighbors Food Bank was a port of call for the Pirates of Treasure Island earlier this month as the local service group brought food donations collected in a drive held at the Shoreline Thriftway.
The Pirates delivered more than 600 pounds of donated food and $720 in cash to the food bank after they had dropped anchor at the Ballinger Way grocery store on Nov. 5.
“This is the best of all the food drives the Pirates and Thriftway have held for us,” said Anne Peterson, spokesperson for the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank. “We cannot thank everyone for their continued support of our food bank.”
“Food drives like this help us to help those in our community,” Peterson added.
A number of other local food drives to benefit the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank are currently being held around Mountlake Terrace, including an effort at Tina’s Hair Salon and Tanning, 22726 44th Ave. W., until Nov. 30 and a student-run drive at Mountlake Terrace High School through Dec. 2.
The Concern for Neighbors Food Bank is located at 4700 228th St. S.W. The organization regularly collects food donations on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; the organization distributes food on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
