Yes, I want to support My MLTnews!

The City of Mountlake Terrace has temporarily closed the Lake Ballinger boat launch, beach, restrooms and parking lot to allow for several major improvements at Ballinger Park. These include construction of a new wildlife viewing platform along with multiple connecting pedestrian pathways. You can learn more here.

  1. Are there any updates whatsoever on the timing of these projects? It has been (I think) almost two years now since there has been access to the north part of the park, and certainly none from the Interurban Trail. There was a substantial amount of activity for a few weeks before the holidays, and then all of that stopped with a delay sign posted on the fence. The work so far looks fantastic and we are excited about being able to enjoy the improvements, but I remain a bit confused why the entirety of that part of the park needs to remain closed for so very long when the work is happening closer to the lake. Some temporary fences and signs would hopefully keep people out of the areas that need work while allowing some access to others to enjoy the park and the trails already completed that go to the Lakeview entrances. Thank you to all who are involved in the project!
