A new non-emergency hotline has been released in Snohomish County. For Mountlake Terrace and Brier, that number is 425-775-3000.

The number can be called instead of 9-1-1 for any situations that are not urgent, but require medical, fire or police assistance.

For example, the 425-775-3000 number should be called if a crime occurred earlier and no suspect information is available. A found pet or property, illegal firework complaints or traffic complaints are also considered non-emergencies.

The purpose of the new phone number is to free up 9-1-1 phone lines for dispatchers responding to more immediate emergencies. Officers and deputies will respond to calls as normal.

The new hotline number will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Law enforcement agencies remind citizens that anytime there is an immediate threat to life or property to call 9-1-1. To report power outages, call Snohomish County PUD at 877-783-1001.
