Scene in Mountlake Terrace: Viewing platform, pathway construction at Ballinger Park Aug. 10, 2025

Will you chip in to support our nonprofit newsroom with a donation today?

Yes, I want to support My MLTnews!

The latest photos and a video of construction at Ballinger Park on a City of Mountlake Terrace project that includes a wildlife viewing platform and connecting pedestrian pathways on the park’s west side. The project also includes an improved entry from the west side at the Interurban Trail. Pathways will connect the west entrance to the viewing platform, the new bridge and boardwalk.

  1. There does seem to be a lot of barren and dead grass areas along the path. I know we want to conserve water. However, isn’t there some sort of seeds or grasses that could be spread to enable the area to be more verdant? I know we don’t have money to do a lot. But could there be some research done to find out what seeds are needed and ask for donations I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to seed the area. Welcome to birds and wildlife.

  2. Dave Carlos’ continuing updates with aerial drone footage – expertly executed – on this large project provide very informative insights on its progress.
    Much appreciated!

  3. I suspect that, to avoid damage from construction vehicles and worker foot traffic, that aspect of the project will be deferred until the final phase.
