The 2026 Washington State Scholastic Esports Association (WSSEA) High School Esports State Championship is back in Lynnwood for another year May 16. This time, hundreds of students from throughout Washington will gather at Alderwood Mall to compete for the championship in games including Overwatch, Splatoon 3, and Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The main event is scheduled from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, May 16 in the former REI store. More than 32 high school teams and 250 students are expected to compete.
Family activities will also be available during the competitions, including SIM racing, game development and other interactive booths. Industry experts and college Esports coaches will also be present for students to meet with during a career fair expo.
The main event is free and open to the public. Sponsors include foundry10, Fenworks, LANFest, MicrokK12, Lenovo, Zotac Gaming, Exclaim and Snohomish County Sports Commission.
WSSEA is a nonprofit organization operated by edicators in Washington. The group aims to provide students with opportunities to grow “socially, emotionally, intellectually and professionally through Esports,” the WSSEA website reads, and offer an equitable and accessible place for students to do so. The organization works to support esports competitions in Washington, support esports clubs in schools and create partnerships between middle, high schools, colleges and professional esports organizations.
