The Edmonds School District will host two groundbreaking ceremonies in June to mark the start of major school construction projects funded through the voter-approved 2024 Capital Construction Bond.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new College Place Elementary and College Place Middle School campus is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the campus, 20401 76th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. The event will celebrate the start of construction on a new shared campus designed to serve future generations of students and families.

The ceremony will also include a closing event for the current College Place Elementary building before students and staff relocate to the former Woodway Elementary campus for the next two school years during construction. College Place Middle School will remain at its current location throughout the project.

A second groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the future site of Salish Middle School, located at the former Alderwood Middle School campus, 20000 28th Ave. W. in Lynnwood.

District officials in a news release said the new Salish Middle School will help accommodate enrollment needs and support the district’s transition to a kindergarten-through-fifth-grade elementary school model and sixth- through eighth-grade middle school model.
