Mountlake Terrace City Manager Jeff Niten is one of two finalists for the City of Bainbridge Island’s city manager job.
The City of Bainbridge Island announced in a press release it selected two finalists for the position: Niten and City Manager Jeff Mauro of Port Townsend. The public is invited to meet the candidates and ask questions Wednesday, June 17, at Bainbridge Island City Hall. Then, finalists will participate in interviews with the City Council and panels made up of community partners, advisory group representatives and city leadership.
The Bainbridge Island City Council is expected to select the new city manager later this summer.
The recruitment process began earlier this year and is being led by the City Council with assistance from Raftelis, a national executive recruitment firm selected by the Council, according to the press release. Following a competitive recruitment process and candidate review, the Bainbridge Island City Council identified Mauro and Niten as the two finalists to advance to final interviews.
Mauro has served as city manager for Port Townsend since 2019, and Niten has been city manager for Mountlake Terrace since April 2023. Prior to coming to MLT, Niten was city manager for the City of Shelton.
Under Bainbridge Island’s council-manager form of government, the city manager serves as the organization’s chief executive officer and reports directly to the City Council.
