The City of Mountlake Terrace will host a Main Street Phase II open house from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the Lake Ballinger Center, 23000 Lakeview Dr. The goal is to provide updates on the project’s construction timeline, anticipated traffic impacts and upcoming work.
The interactive open house will include project maps, visual displays, a presentation and a question-and-answer session with city staff.
Main Street Phase II is the next stage of the City’s long-planned corridor improvement project, which includes roadway reconstruction, utility upgrades, sidewalk widening and other enhancements intended to improve safety, accessibility and mobility along Main Street.

During the April 24 Council meeting, City Engineer John Marek told Council the Main Street project originally included improvements along 56th Avenue West between 236th and 230th Streets Southwest. After Mountlake Terrace was not selected for a $23 million federal grant in 2024, the City downsized the scope to 56th Avenue West between 236th and 230th Streets Southwest.
However, U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene has secured $850,000 in federal funding in 2024 for the City’s Main Street project.
Because of the reduction, city staff had to “go back to some of those property owners and work through some agreements” to adjust the right‑of‑way needs, according to Marek.
He added that the cost of the new contract supplement would be an extra $106,637, which would bring the total contract to about $3.3 million.
Community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about the project. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
