Carol Rudd: Celebration of Life planned April 25 in Kingston

Carol Ann (McKenzie) Rudd

Carol Ann (McKenzie) Rudd passed away at age 81 on FEB 23, 2026, in Silverdale, WA. Carol was a lifetime resident of the Puget Sound Area, a graduate of West Bremerton HS class of 1963 and had a long career working for JCPenney. She was the second oldest of nine children born to Charles and Georgia McKenzie.

Carol was a wonderful mother to her two sons, Jim Rudd (Ann) and Dan Rudd (Maricarmen), doting grandmother to grandson Enrique Rudd-Navarro, and a beloved sister to her eight siblings, Susan Ablao, Jack McKenzie, Patricia McKenzie, Tom McKenzie, Bob McKenzie Sullivan, Pete McKenzie, Steve McKenzie, and Mary McKenzie.

She was married for 44 years to Stan Rudd, and together they spent many summers entertaining family and friends at their beach house on Samish Island. She taught many how to cook, clean and shell Dungeness crab, even though she herself did not enjoy eating it. She opted for an independent phase in 2011, living in Edmonds and ultimately ending up in Silverdale, nearer to many of her siblings.

Carol loved playing cards (Pinochle or Hand & Foot) with all comers! She was never one to pass up a casino run where she enjoyed playing the slots. She was known for her super strong sense of smell, and her distaste for most vegetables, which often presented her with an opportunity for a witty barb when she recognized that someone was trying to sneak broccoli into something.

Carol will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew her. Her very last words, when asked if she was ready for a nap were “Nope. I’m goin’ on a trip!” Bon voyage mom!

A Celebration of Life is planned for SAT APR 25, 12:00PM at the Kingston Cove Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carol’s honor to the Brain Support Network.
