Attendees at the next Edmonds Civic Roundtable meeting Monday, May 4 will get an inside look at the changes and progress at Edmonds College.
Getting a college degree or vocational training has gone through significant changes since Edmonds Community College opened its doors in the old Woodway High School in 1967. Renamed Edmonds College in 2020, the public institution currently serves the community through a focus on educational programs and career training.
Now, more than 10,000 students attend Edmonds College classes every quarter, with more than 17,000 attending annually. In addition to the traditional two-year curriculum, the college offers bachelor’s degrees in computer science, early childhood education, Informational technology and robotics, amongst others.
May 4 speakers will include Kim Chapman, vice president for instruction, and Indra Paola Pelaez, vice president, for enrollment and student services.
Chapman and Pelaez will discuss changes in the student body and student demographics, the role of international students, new programs at the college and its new cyber studies and technology building.
The speakers also will be available to answer questions from the audience.
The Roundtable meeting will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 4, at the Edmonds Waterfront Center, 220 Railroad Ave. in Edmonds. There is no charge for the event, but registration in advance is requested at www.edmondscivicroundtable.org/
