Edmonds-Woodway High School’s Jazz Program brought home several top prizes at the 59th annual Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho this weekend — including the Sweepstakes Award for Outstanding Instrumental Ensemble awarded to EWHS Jazz Ensemble I Saturday, April 25.
EWHS Band Director Jake Bergevin also announced these other top honors:
– Outstanding Division 1 Big Band on Friday for Jazz Ensemble II
– Outstanding Instrumental Combo (EWHS Purple Combo)
– Outstanding Tenor Saxophonist Logan Ignatenko
– Outstanding Piano Player Oren Kaushansky
– Outstanding Trumpeter and Avista outstanding instrumentalist scholarship award Gavin Bunbury

Bergevin thanked the Edmonds community for supporting music in the public schools, and offered special appreciation to the EWHS Music Booster Club “for all the support that makes these type of achievements possible.”
