The District at the Lynnwood Event Center invites the community to a free evening of art, conversation, and creativity during its upcoming Meet the Artists Reception for the art exhibition Flight Patterns: The Art & Motion of Winged Life. The event takes place Tuesday, April 14 from 6-8 p.m. and offers guests the opportunity to meet the artists behind the work while enjoying live music, appetizers and refreshments.
Flight Patterns explores the beauty, symbolism and movement of winged life through a wide range of artistic styles and mediums. Inspired by birds, butterflies and other airborne creatures, the exhibition examines themes of migration, transformation, and the rhythms of the natural world through painting, sculpture, glass and mixed media.
One of the evening’s highlights will be a live participatory installation by artist Alexandra Nason. During the reception, Nason will create a growing installation made from modular aluminum butterflies. Guests will be invited to decorate individual butterfly pieces, which Nason will assemble into the evolving artwork throughout the evening. As the installation takes shape, community participation becomes part of the finished piece, turning the creative process itself into a shared experience.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to connect with Birds Connect Seattle, a nonprofit conservation organization that has been advocating for birds and urban habitat since 1916. Formerly known as the Seattle Audubon Society, the organization works to create cities where people and birds can thrive together through education, community science and conservation initiatives.
Representatives from Birds Connect Seattle will host an interactive table during the reception, where guests can explore bird-related materials, learn about local conservation efforts, and engage with preserved bird specimens used for educational programs. These hands-on displays offer a unique way for visitors of all ages to better understand the diversity and importance of the region’s birdlife.
The Flight Patterns exhibition and reception are part of the Lynnwood Event Center’s ongoing commitment to showcasing regional artists and creating welcoming cultural experiences for the community.
Admission to the reception is free, though RSVPs are encouraged here.
