Girls on the Run Snohomish County will host its annual Celebration 5K on Sunday, June 7, at the Mill Creek Town Center. The noncompetitive, family friendly event serves as the end-of-season celebration for local Girls on the Run participants and is open to all children, according to a Girls on the Run press release.
The run and walk will feature community activities, sponsor booths and a fun zone. Event check-in and festivities begin at 7 a.m., with the 5K scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
Girls on the Run combines physical activity with lessons designed to help participants build confidence, develop healthy relationships and strengthen life skills. During the nonprofit’s eight-week program, participants train for a 5K while learning teamwork, emotional awareness and community engagement.
“We are thrilled to host our Celebration 5K event in Mill Creek for the third year and witness the joy and pride of our participants as they cross the finish line,” Girls on the Run Snohomish County Executive Director Megan Wolfe said. “Last season, around 1,600 runners and walkers joined us on the course, and we can’t wait to see the community unite again to celebrate the limitless potential of our GOTR girls.”
Organizers are seeking volunteers to assist with registration, merchandise, course monitoring, cheer stations and activities in the fun zone. Individuals and groups are encouraged to participate.
Registration is open, and proceeds from the event will benefit Girls on the Run Snohomish County. All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and access to event activities.
Registration and volunteer details are available at Girls on the Run Snohomish County 5K.
