The Lynnwood Rotary Club and the Lynnwood Rotary Community Foundation announced the recipients of the 2026 Martha Lake Community Club/Lynnwood Rotary Scholarships. A total of $56,000 was awarded to 15 outstanding students across the Edmonds School District.
This year’s awardees were selected based on their commitment to service above self. Recipients include:
Rose Tulga, Lynnwood High School: Tulga plans to study Business Administration at University of Washington to help create opportunities for underrepresented communities.
Simon Ussery, Lynnwood High School: Ussery will attend Skagit Valley College to study diesel technology. He plans to build a career as a diesel technician.
Katherine Josiah, Edmonds-Woodway High School: Josiah plans to study biochemistry and pursue a future in medicine, saving lives through research and patient care.
Fatou Manneh, Edmonds-Woodway High School: Manneh’s educational plans are to attend the University of Washington to pursue nursing, working in emergency care and supporting patients in their most critical moments.
Joshua Ngo, Edmonds-Woodway High School: Ngo will attend the University of Washington to study business with plans to apply data-driven decision making in the sports industry.
Alison Schell, Edmonds-Woodway High School. Schell plans to attend Gonzaga University to study biology and pursue a career as an obstetrician.
Keegan Wright, Meadowdale High School: Wright will attend the University of Washington to study psychology and become a youth psychologist.
Ben Webster, Meadowdale High School: Webster plans to attend the University of Washington to study sports management and hopes to serve as an educator and coach.
Bitanya Tesfaye, Meadowdale High School: Tesfaye will attend UCLA to study neuroscience and become a neurologist.
Nikolaus Nelson, Meadowdale High School: Nelson’s educational plans are to attend San Diego State University to study finance, math and engineering with a future in finance.
Kate Betzold, Meadowdale High School: Betzold will attend the University of Arizona to study Pediatric Occupational Therapy.
Zachary Lee, Meadowdale High School: Lee plans to attend the University of Washington to study neuroscience and become a neurologist.
Jayden Nguyen, Mountlake Terrace High School: Nguyen will attend the University of Washington to study biology and pursue a career as a pharmaceutical scientist.
Tenzin Namgyal, Mountlake Terrace High School: Namgyal plans to attend the University of Washington to study mechanical or aerospace engineering with the goal of creating solutions that positively impact communities around the world.
Special Recognition: Bernie Sigler Memorial Scholarship
The Bernie Sigler Memorial Scholarship, honoring the legacy of longtime Rotarian Colonel Bernie Sigler, recognizes a student who demonstrates exceptional service, leadership and dedication to community.
This year’s recipient of the $5,000 scholarship is Liam Moore from Mountlake Terrace High School. Moore plans to pursue a career as an electrician through a trade program with the long-term goal of building his own business
