The city of Mountlake Terrace will celebrate Children’s Day on Thursday, April 23, at City Hall, 23204 58th Ave. W., where children and families are invited to participate in activities and meet the City Council.
Hosted by the city’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission, the event encourages children to engage in the civic process in a fun and welcoming environment. Kids can take photos on the council dais, make informal proclamations and enjoy live music performed by local youths.
Refreshments and entertainment are provided from 5:30 to 7 p.m. At 7 p.m., the City Council will read a Children’s Day proclamation, and all children in attendance will be invited to receive a copy.
No RSVP is required. Parking is free in the Civic Campus lot.
Children’s Day is celebrated in dozens of cities and countries around the world. Throughout April, countries and cities, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Palestine, Bolivia, Haiti, Colombia, Turkey and Mexico observe their own versions of the holiday.
The event is free and open to the public.
