The Rotary Club of Lynnwood dedicated a new Peace Pole at the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center on Sunday, May 28, joining community leaders, students, families and Rotarians from across Rotary District 5030 in a celebration of peace and unity.
The pole features the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Arabic, serving as a symbol of understanding and hope for the diverse communities served by the neighborhood center, according to the Lynnwood Rotary press release.
Lynnwood Rotary secretary Barbara Lindberg shared the history of the two District Grants that helped support improvements at the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center, including both the playground and Peace Pole projects.

Among the speakers were former District 5030 Gov. Catherine Gibson, District Governor-Elect Patricia Chapman, former state legislator Ruth Kagi, Lynnwood Mayor George Hurst, Pastor Hector Garfias-Toledo and Joel Feldman of Volunteers of America Western Washington.
Music was provided by Minister of Worship and Music at Trinity Lutheran Church David Horton.

Lynnwood Rotary President Shannon Sessions said the project represents “a lasting symbol of unity, kindness and hope for this community.”

“This beautiful project became possible because people came together with a shared vision, especially our Barbara Lindberg, whose heart and leadership helped create a true legacy through both the Peace Pole and the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center playground,” Sessions said. “Rotary is at its best when we work together in service, and that spirit is what makes today so meaningful. May this Peace Pole remind everyone who passes by that peace begins with us.”
The Rotary also thanked Rotarian Aaron McCoy and McCoy Home Solutions for donating and installing the Peace Pole.
