Yes, I want to support My MLTnews!
The road was closed at 44th Avenue West just south of Interstate 5 between Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace Wednesday. This location — at 204th Street Southwest and the 20900 block of 44th Avenue West — is notorious for water on the roadway during heavy rainfall. (Photo by Amanda Petrowski)

  1. Interesting photo, my folks bought a brand new house on 44th (21006 44th Ave. West) in 1954. They leased a pasture on the left of this photo where the flood is for my horse. This area always flooded, some years worse than others. In this area there were many artesian wells that bubbled up thru the sands on the edge of the road. One never wanted to wander out to close to them as the sand was very “loose” and should suck you under to about your knees, lol. We moved to Eastern Wa. in 1962 and the last time I drove by there was in mid 1980’s it had changed some by then, am curious to what it looks like now. Oh, the history of the area back then I could tell. Used to ride my horse to the “general store” in Alderwood Manor to buy pop and candy, belonged to Pegasus Patrol horse club and 4H there among other memories. So many things I could share about the area but doubt anyone would care in these days. lol.

    • Thanks for this information!!! Now I know why it floods so badly. Moved to MLT about three years ago. Would love to know more about the area.
