A new summer tradition is coming to Lynnwood this year.
The District has announced the launch of Summer Sounds, a free outdoor concert and market series taking place on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer at The District Plaza, the outdoor gathering space surrounding the Lynnwood Event Center.
The series will take place on June 17, July 8 and July 29, bringing together live music, local vendors, food trucks, desserts, drinks, and community gathering in the heart of Lynnwood. Vendor markets will run from 2-8 p.m., with live music performances from 6-8 p.m.
Each event will feature its own musical theme and atmosphere, creating three distinct summer experiences for attendees.
The June 17 kickoff event will feature a ’60s and ’70s-inspired lineup with performances by Souled Out Funk performing Motown classics, Apple Jam, a Beatles tribute band, and renowned Hendrix tribute artist Randy Hansen.
On July 8, the atmosphere shifts into pop territory with local female-led band Vanilla Abstract and Red Karma, a Taylor Swift tribute act.
The final Summer Sounds event on July 29 will lean into ’90s and early 2000s nostalgia with performances by original grunge band Deep Contact, ska group Skablins, and pop-punk tribute band Pop Disaster, featuring music from Green Day and Blink-182.
In addition to live music, attendees can expect a wide variety of local vendors and makers, including handmade goods, fresh flowers, produce, plants and artisan products. Food trucks, dessert vendors and a 21+ beer and wine garden called the Plaza Pub will also be part of the experience.
“Summer Sounds is the community-centered programming that The District was created to support, and we are now promoting and expanding,” said Janet Pope, executive director of The District. “Our goal is to sponsor events that bring people together, support local businesses and artists, and continue building The District as a vibrant gathering place for the community.”
The new series also reflects the ongoing evolution of The District’s 13-acre master-planned redevelopment vision, which focuses on expanding opportunities for community gathering, arts and culture, entertainment, and small business engagement in Lynnwood’s City Center.
Summer Sounds is free and open to the public. Additional event details and vendor announcements will be shared on www.ilovelynnwood.com/summer-sounds as well as The District and Lynnwood Event Center social media channels.
