“Let’s Read Together” is a new collaboration between community partners, local authors and readers of all ages. My Neighborhood News Group, LETI (Latino Educational Training Institute,) ChildStrive and Edmonds Bookshop have come together to create a series of community events centered around the joy of reading across generations. These events will feature local authors, musicians and storytellers, multi-age craft activities and — of course — books.

The first event will be Saturday, July 25, during the Latino Expo at the Edmonds College campus, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Story time will begin at 1 p.m. in the Edmonds College Library, featuring author and illustrator Liz Wong, musician and storyteller Marco Cortes and children’s author Mary Boone. The Edmonds College Library is located on the third and fourth floors of Lynnwood Hall, building 12 on the Campus Map.

The second event will be Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Lynnwood Library, with more details to come.

All are welcome to join in the fun of reading together at either of these events along with friends and family members.

Edmonds Bookshop will be offering the community the opportunity to get involved by giving books to be raffled off and given away at the “Let’s Read Together” events. From July 6-20, you will be able to purchase a “Book Star” token in the amount of $10 or $20 at the bookshop and all the proceeds will be used to purchase books to be given away at these events. Books will be chosen by staff and community partners, tailored to each event.

More information about the book drive is available at Edmonds Bookshop, 111 5th Ave. S., Edmonds.
