Disability rights advocate Ian Mackay will speak about resilience, outdoor access and the healing power of nature during a presentation 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St.

Mackay, who became a quadriplegic after a bicycle crash in 2008 at the age of 26, has spent years promoting accessibility and equity in outdoor recreation. Despite his injuries, he has traveled more than 10,000 miles, exploring trails across the country using an electric wheelchair.

His story of recovery and advocacy is chronicled in the book Ian’s Ride, and he is also the subject of an upcoming documentary film.

During the presentation, Mackay will discuss his experiences in the outdoors, the importance of expanding trail access, and his belief that nature can play a powerful role in healing and well-being.
