The Edmonds School District’s Highly Capable Program referral period is now open through Oct. 31 for students in kindergarten through 11th grade.
According to the District, the Highly Capable Program provides services for students in kindergarten through 12th grade through a responsive learning environment that supports students’ cognitive and social-emotional growth. Through enriched, enhanced and accelerated learning opportunities, students are challenged to explore content in greater depth and complexity, strengthen critical and creative thinking skills, and apply their learning in new contexts.
Students may be referred for the program by a parent or guardian, teacher, peer, community member or through self-referral.
All second- and sixth-grade students are universally screened each fall. If a child is not in one of those grade levels and a parent believes they may benefit from highly capable services, families may complete a Referral and Permission to Test form by Oct. 31.
