NAACP Snohomish County will host its annual Freedom Fund Gala, themed “Turning Dreams Into Reality,” on April 25, at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center.
The event serves as an awards ceremony recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community across Snohomish County.
Proceeds from the gala support the organization’s initiatives focused on social justice, legal redress, scholarships for students of color, financial literacy, dismantling the prison pipeline and economic development.
John Agyapong, president of the Snohomish County branch, emphasized the importance of the event in advancing equity and community engagement.
“I am honored to lead our branch as we work alongside our members and community partners to continue the important work of promoting equity, justice and equality for all,” Agyapong said. “My leadership is rooted in humility, and I am dedicated to empowering our community through advocacy, education and collective action.”
The gala follows a year of programming that included financial literacy workshops, public safety discussions and youth-focused initiatives.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is a civil rights organization dedicated to ensuring political, educational, social and economic equality and eliminating racial discrimination.
