A yearly spring shindig in Mountlake Terrace has a few new features this year, and registration for it closes Friday, April 24.
Cocoon House‘s annual Butterfly Celebration is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Premera Blue Cross’ Discovery Hall, 6911 220th St. S.W. Those interested can register here. A single ticket costs $100.
The event highlights the successes of young people who overcame significant challenges, according to the event’s website. It also allows guests to invest in services that help youth and young adults experiencing homelessness.
According to Cocoon House CEO Joe Alonzo, this year’s event will have an auction and paddle raise component. The celebration will also feature three youth speakers, and guests will hear from an alumni who benefitted from the nonprofit’s services 20 years ago.
“It should be a wonderful evening,” Alonzo said.
Since 1991, Cocoon House has been serving Snohomish County youth and their families. It transformed from a single emergency shelter to a full continuum of care, according to the nonprofit’s website.
In February, Cocoon House hosted its first quarterly forum at the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center. It focused on early intervention and prevention strategies that can help keep youth housed, supported and connected to local resources. The next forum will happen June 4.
