Through the Heart Self Defense will host a special self-defense training event from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Haven Dance Studio, 4720 200th St. S.W., Lynnwood.
Led by Veteran black belt J. Misha Carter, the session will provide participants with practical tools to improve personal safety, awareness and confidence in real-world situations. According to a news releaes, the training is designed to be accessible to individuals of all experience levels.
Through The Heart Self Defense said it emphasizes a holistic approach that goes beyond physical techniques. Participants will learn how to recognize and avoid potential threats, set clear personal boundaries, and respond effectively under pressure.
“Self-defense starts from within,” Carter said. “This training is about helping people trust themselves, stay aware and feel prepared—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.”
The event will include:
- Real-world scenario-based training
- Verbal boundary-setting techniques
- Practical physical self-defense skills
- Strategies for managing stress and decision-making in high-pressure situations
Scholarships are available to ensure access for those who may face financial barriers. Space may be limited, and early registration is encouraged.
